If you’re a business person, learning ML can feel daunting. But it doesn’t need to be.
By dedicating just a little time each week, you can be ready to make an impact through ML in 2021.
Here’s what I’d recommend:
- Take a free course (link in comments). Spend 1hr/wk. This will give you broad coverage of the basics.
- Follow a few people on LinkedIn who live and breathe ML every day. You’ll learn the common themes of what’s actually happening.
Eric Weber Head of experimentation at Yelp. He’s genuinely interested in helping others learn. Great advice on what to do and what NOT to do.
Daliana Liu Sr. Data Scientist at Amazon. Check out the featured posts on her profile page and you’ll be off to a great start learning from “real world” ML projects. Also see her posts on career advice for new data scientists.
Greg Coquillo PM at Amazon. He brings all of us on his ML journey. LinkedIn Top Voice.
Michael Cavaretta, Ph.D. Sr. Mgr at Ford. Generates good discussion and debates around hot topics in data science. - Do a few deep dives on ML projects in your industry. If you need ideas, reach out to me.
The key is to do all three of these. It will give you breadth and depth. Most importantly you’ll start to develop pattern recognition of how to leverage ML to make an impact.
